AvtoVAZ Reports 19.5% Fall in Sales

Car sales for AvtoVAZ, one of the largest car producers in Eastern Europe, fell by 12 percent between January and September compared to the same period last year.

In September alone, sales dropped by 19.5 percent to a total of 47,400 vehicles. In the first nine months of the year, total sales amounted to less than 343,400 vehicles, Ria Novosti reported Thursday, citing the company.

The company this week reported a loss in the first half of 2013 of 2.6 billion rubles ($80 million), down from a 29.2 billion ruble profit in the same period a year earlier.
