Saab Cars Get New Partner

Saab parent company Spyker Cars announced Friday that Armand Import will be its new importer and distributor for the Russian market.

Armand Import will take over all marketing, sales and distribution responsibilities from General Motors CIS. Official sales are expected to start mid-2011.

An initial dealer network will comprise 12 dealers, which are located in major Russian cities, and will form the basis for further expansion.

"The company has a good track record in the Russian market and is, just like us, committed to excellent customer service and a long-term approach to business partnerships," said Saab chief executive Jan Jonsson.

The Russian car market has continued its vigorous recovery into 2011, with sales of? new cars and? light trucks advancing 80 percent in? February from? the same month last year to? 73,588 vehicles, according to the? Association of? European Businesses.
