U.S. Arrests Uzbek Suspect

DENVER — A Philadelphia man accused of being a member of an Islamist militant group that U.S. authorities say is seeking to overthrow the Uzbek government has been arrested on charges of conspiracy to provide support to a terrorist organization.

Bakhtiyor Jumayev, 45, was arrested late last week in Philadelphia on charges of supporting the Islamic Jihad Union. Federal authorities said Jumayev was a close friend of Jamshid Muhtorov, an Uzbek refugee in Denver who was arrested in January on a similar charge.
