Law enforcement have detained a student suspected of killing prominent Russian journalist Dmitry Tsilikin in St. Petersburg, the local branch of Russia's Investigative Committee said in a statement Thursday.
According to investigators, on March 27 a suspect identified as 21 year-old Sergei Kosyrev ?€” whom Tsilikin had met online ?€” went to the journalist's home. A fight broke out between two men and Kosyrev stabbed Tsilikin to death. Then he took the journalist's laptop and wallet and left the apartment.
The detained man has confessed to the murder.
54-year old Tsilikin was found dead in his St. Petersburg apartment by his relatives on March 31. He was a well-known art and music critic and contributed to the Russian newspapers Vedomosti and Kommersant.
