New parking fees for streets in central Moscow are set to go into effect on Dec. 2. The new tariffs range from 50 rubles ($0.76) for 30 minutes to 200 rubles ($3) for an hour.
"Rates will change only on those streets where there are no free parking spaces during the day, as well as on a case by case basis taking into account the needs of local residents," said the press service of Moscow's transport department.
The first paid parking in the capital appeared in November 2012 on 21 streets within the Boulevard Ring. In December of the same year, officials said that this measure was effective, and in May 2013 paid parking zone was extended to the limits of the Boulevard Ring, and in winter - up to the Garden Ring. In 2015, paid parking went beyond the Third Ring Road, including many streets near metro stations.
