Buba by Sumosan
Slick sushi, great attention to detail
Sushi bars in Moscow are two a penny; quality rolls are not. Buba, the little brother of Sumosan, offers great-quality Japanese food for the Everyman. A limited menu and pared down interior leave you to appreciate the crisp tempura, beautifully-cut sashimi and tasty sets of elegantly crafted rolls. Perch on bar stools, lounge on couches, or sit by the window. Delivery also available.

Life of Pi

Upscale Indian by the river
This swanky, dimly lit riverside restaurant hopes to bring Indian food into the Moscow mainstream with the help of seasoned New Delhi chef Rajandhar Singh. It combines an upscale, somewhat night club-like decor with a mouthwatering range of curries, tandoori dishes, and other meat-based and vegetable delicacies. Impressive wine and cocktail list; those after something more traditionally Indian may need to go with tea.

Ferma Burger

Great burgers, downtown vibe
Ferma Burger has opened their second cafe near Patriarch's Ponds. It has a definite East Village feel to it: black and white floor tiles, wooden tables and chairs, track lighting and a giant neon cow. Order a burger, probably their famous black burger (black bun), definitely with grilled corn on the cob, and some of their great fries, too. They also have good soups and some nice mini-pies. But you'll return for the burgers and the vibe.

A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.

Remind me later.
