Federal Drug Control Service officers in the Primorye region arrested a train conductor on the Trans-Siberian Railroad for possession of a syringe filled with hashish oil, the agency reported Tuesday.
The 20-year-old man said he was smuggling 15 grams of the substance for an unknown man who had given it to him during a stopover in Chita, one of many points along the 9,000-kilometer-long railway.
Hashish oil, a concentrated form of marijuana with very high levels of the chemical THC, costs between $25 to $100 per gram, according to Rolling Stone.
Law enforcement authorities have opened a criminal case on drug smuggling charges, which carry up to five years in prison upon a conviction.
