The point guaranteed Milan a share of the first division lead with Parma, which needed substitute Filippo Inzaghi's injury-time winner in a 3-2 win at home to Piacenza on Sunday.
Despite the dropped points, Milan took comfort from its chief rivals Juventus's 4-0 humiliation at Lazio, now third in the table with 16 points from eight matches, one off the top.
It was the champion's second defeat in a week following its elimination from the Italian Cup at Atalanta and coach Marcello Lippi described his side as "down and out."
Juventus, due to meet Glasgow Rangers in the European Champions' League on Wednesday, continue to look a pale shadow of the side that boasts a 100 percent record in that competition.
"Our players think only of the Champions Cup," said president Vittorio Chiusano, "you see the result in the league."

Bayern Munich needed two late goals to beat VfB Stuttgart 5-3 Saturday in the Bundesliga, capping a wild match in which the teams traded five goals in the final 14 minutes.
First-place Munich appeared to have the match wrapped up when Mehmet Scholl converted a penalty shot in the 63rd minute. At that point Munich held a seemingly comfortable 3-0 lead.
That's when the two teams, playing in front of 63,000 at Munich's Olympia Stadium, engaged in the shootout.
