Russian jets may have violated Finland's airspace twice in the past 24 hours, the Finnish Defense Ministry has announced.
Military jets were forced to scramble to meet the alleged Su-27 fighter planes over the Baltic Sea on Thursday.
In a statement, the ministry said that Russia's military presence over the Baltic Sea on Thursday had been “intense.”
Russia's Defense Ministry denied that the jets had strayed from neutral waters over the Gulf of Finland.
Helsinki has reported several breaches of its airspace by Russia since 2014, when Moscow annexed the Crimean Peninsula.
