Swimming season has officially kicked off in Moscow with the arrival of June 1 and the first day of summer.
A total of 121 designed waterside recreation zones have opened in the city, including 12 swimming areas, the Moskva News Agency reported Wednesday.
Outdoor swimming pools will be available in Sokolniki Park, Park Fili, Severnoye Tushino Park, VDNKh and Luzhniki.
The city's beaches are to be patrolled by more than 200 lifeguards, 24 hours a day to ensure swimmers' safety, RIA Novosti reported.
Five recreation zones are also equipped with free Wi-Fi, said head of Moscow's housing and public works department Alexander Samsonov. They are located in Gorky Park and Sokolniki, Krasnaya Presnya, Severnoye Tushino and Izmaylovo parks.
City authorities expect the newly-opened recreation areas to be visited by 100,000 people daily.
