Moscow's Dreaded Summer Hot Water Shutoff Begins May 12

Moscow's annual hot water shutoff will begin on May 12, the Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper reported Monday.

Hot water supplies will stop for up to nine days at a time in 284 buildings around the city, sources in Moscow's utility services company told the newspaper.

Service workers will perform hydraulic and temperature tests on 15,500 kilometers of water pipelines. A total of 188 kilometers of pipes are scheduled for replacement, according to Rossiiskaya Gazeta.
