Workman Dies in Metro Flood

A workman died on Friday after repair work on a water main went badly wrong, causing a flood on a section of the Moscow metro's Dark Blue Line.

Workmen were trying to repair a water pipe near Izmailovsky Prospekt when it became damaged and one of them died in the resulting flood, an unidentified police official told Interfax.

The water flooded a 25-meter section of track between the Partizanskaya and Izmailovskaya metro stations, an unidentified transport official said, RIA Novosti reported.

Trains were stopped from running between the Shchyolkovskaya to Partizanskaya metro stations at about 5 p.m. due to water covering the tracks.
