Protest Over Disputed Isles

TOKYO — Japan lodged a protest with South Korea on Wednesday over a trip by three South Korean opposition legislators to one of a Russian-controlled chain of islands, which are claimed by Japan, on Russian visas.

Kyodo news agency quoted one of the South Korean lawmakers as saying they made the trip to see how Russia was controlling the islands, called the Northern Territories in Japan and the Kurils in Russia.
