A day of mourning will be held Friday in Siberia's Krasnoyarsk region after 11 people were killed in a road accident, the TASS news agency quoted regional governor Viktor Tolokonsky as saying.
The accident occurred late Wednesday night when a bus carrying 27 people crossed over onto the wrong side of the M-54 federal highway and collided with a minibus carrying 16 people traveling in the opposite direction, according to preliminary information cited by TASS.
All of the 11 people killed in the crash were traveling on the minibus. A further nine people were injured in the accident, the report said.
The 59-year-old bus driver had reportedly taken over from another driver shortly before the crash and has been detained, Tolokonsky was quoted as saying by TASS.
A criminal case has been opened into the accident.
