Gazprom Neft and the American company Halliburton have concluded an agreement to help the Russian oil producer improve productivity at its hard-to-extract deposits.
Halliburton will hold seminars to familiarize Gazprom employees with new extraction methods, Prime reported.
New technologies can reach oil deposits that were previously inaccessible or "hard-to-extract," such as those trapped between rocks or in shale.
Gazprom's aims to extract 300 million tons of oil from unconventional sources by 2020.
The company is already uses some non-traditional methods, such as shale oil production in the Khanty-Mansiisk autonomous district.
