Arbachakov Prevails

TOKYO ( -- Russian Yury Arbachakov knocked out Hugo Soto of Argentina in the eighth round of a scheduled 12-round bout to retain his World Boxing Council flyweight title on Monday.


On Sunday in Tokyo, Yasuei Yakushiji of Japan retained his WBC bantamweight title when the referee stopped his fight against Byun Jung Il of South Korea in the 11th round.


In London on Saturday, Ghana's Alfred Kotey won the World Boxing Organization bantamweight title when he beat defending champion Rafael Del Valle of Puerto Rico on points over 12 rounds.
