If you are interested in Russian and Soviet history — or architecture, or culture — you will surely be very interested in this film. “I Am The Hall” tells the story of the Hall of Columns in the House of Unions, from its first life as a ball and meeting room for the Moscow Assembly of Nobility and through the rallies, show trials, chess tournaments, press conferences and funerals of the Soviet era.

Narrated by actor Veniamin Smekhov, the hour-long film is shown with English subtitles.

It will be introduced and then discussed (in Russian) by Galina Yevtushenko, one of the scriptwriters, who is a well-known documentary film director, producer, writer and Fulbright scholar.

The event is being organized by the American Center Moscow.

It will be held on Zoom this evening at 6:30 Moscow time (11:30 a.m. in New York, 4:30 p.m. in London), and you need to register here
