A 51-year-old man has confessed to murdering two women whose headless and limbless torsos were found dumped in a Moscow region river, investigators said Monday.
The suspect said while being questioned that he killed one of the women in a jealous rage and then killed the other to cover up the crime, the regional Investigative Committee said in a statement on its website.
The women's headless torsos, which bore knife wounds, were discovered last week in the Klyazma River near the town of Mendeleyevo, about 40 kilometers northwest of Moscow.
The women were identified as a local resident and her friend visiting from the southern Rostov region, the statement said.
The LifeNews media website reported that the killer, who had a long rap sheet including armed robbery and death threats, was a neighbor of the local victim and they got into a fight while drunk.
