Explosive Kills Policeman in Moscow Suburb

One policeman in the suburbs of Moscow was killed and another seriously injured by an explosive device thrown out of a car by an unidentified driver, investigators said Friday.

The driver threw the device at the policemen while they were checking his paperwork in the city of Zheleznodorozhny, a spokeswoman for the regional branch of the Investigative Committee said.

The second policeman injured by the explosion is in serious condition and police are searching for the suspect, who managed to escape, she said.

Earlier on Friday, a person involved in a car accident in the same city beat to death a police officer investigating the incident.

After a Lada and a BMW collided, the Lada driver beat a traffic police officer who arrived at the scene so severely that he later died of his injuries.

Police said the suspect has been detained and is being tested for drug and alcohol intoxication.
