Property Tax by 2014

A new property tax could be in place by 2014, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Shatalov said Monday.

"The real estate tax has every chance of coming into force as of Jan. 1, 2014," he said, Interfax reported. The database of properties belonging to individuals already exists, he added.

"Probably, this will not affect the whole country at first, but the more developed regions and municipalities. To get the program ramped up, we give it until 2018," Shatalov said.
