Rescuers extracted a 20-year-old Magnitogorsk resident from a garbage chute after she climbed in to retrieve a brand-new makeup kit that she accidentally discarded.
The woman was found practically naked in a heap of garbage, the Chelyabinsk region's search-and-rescue service said in a statement on its website.
According to the statement, first-floor residents first raised the alarm in the early hours of Wednesday morning when they heard the woman screaming.
After arriving on the scene, rescuers found that the woman had gotten stuck on the level of the second floor after slipping while rummaging through garbage.
Rescuers then freed the girl by cutting through the garbage chute from below and catching the woman in their arms.
"Much to the surprise of the rescue service, the woman didn't rush home to get changed but continued to dig in the trash heap for her 'bag of beauty,'" the statement said, adding that the girl escaped uninjured.
"Unfortunately, there are no videos or pictures available," the statement added.
A Message from The Moscow Times:
Dear readers,
We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."
These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.
We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.
Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.
By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
