Former Drug Official's Case Goes to Court

Prosecutors have forwarded a criminal case against Alexander Bulbov, a former senior Federal Drug Control Service official, to the Moscow City Court, Interfax reported Friday.

Bulbov faces up to 10 years in prison on combined charges of fraud and abuse of authority over pension payments worth 670,000 rubles ($21,300) he illegally received while on the job, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.

Another case against Bulbov, related to car passes granting immunity from traffic police, is in the works, the report said.

Bulbov refused to comment over the weekend, Interfax said. He denied wrongdoing earlier.
