Drunk Man Drives 'Tank' Into Home
The Moscow Times
Aáwoman ináthe Ural Mountains village ofáBeryozovo called police atá3 a.m. Friday saying aátank had been driven intoáher yard.
When police arrived, they determined that theá“tank,”áwhich had bulldozed aáfence andágarage before stopping ináfront ofáa house, was ináfact aá14-ton all-terrain vehicle.
But the vehicle resembled aátank so much that one 80-year-old resident wondered whether war had broken out, aástatement onáthe regional police department’s website says.
Because ofáthe driver’s intoxicated condition, police couldn’táquestion him until theáfollowing morning. He expressed confusion over how he’d wound up ináBeryozovo.
The man works as a mechanic in the area. Because of the incident, he faces misdemeanor charges, theáloss ofáhis driver’s license andápossibly theáloss ofáhis job.
Police are checking toádetermine whether theádriver stole theávehicle, ináwhich case he will be charged with unlawful acquisition ofáa vehicle, which carries aámaximum punishment ofáfive years ináprison.
He will also have toápay theáhomeowner forádamages toáthe property.
