The Lumiere Brothers – Photo Exhibitions

The Lumiere Brothers center for photography in Red October holds two exhibitions this autumn which are definitely worth a visit.
The Lumiere Brothers center for photography

Lagrange's Streets

The first exhibition "Lagrange’s Streets" runs until November 17th. Here you can explore Soviet and Russia from 60's to 90's through the lens of one of the most famous Russian photographer, Sergey Lagrange. The photographer rejected the propaganda of the Soviet way of life in his works, instead he praised the daily life of the "little man". Seeing Lagrange's images will not leave you untouched and will probably help you to understand today's Russia better.

If you accidentally fall in love with some of his works, then ask the receptionists to show you the way to the Photo Gallery (hidden inside the photo center) where you have the possibility to purchase signed prints or maybe find a photo print of another favorite photographer. If you are not ready to invest in the prints, pick up a memory item from the bookstore at the entrance, which has a great selection of books.

The Beatles and not only

The second exhibition is Harry Benson's "The Beatles and not only" which runs until January, 19th. This Scottish photographer's photos of celebrities have been published in different popular magazines around the world. We were thrilled by how intensively he captured the young Beatles on their 1964 tour; early romantic feelings between Hillary and Bill Clinton; Valentino's glance and Ray Charles by his piano.
