Russian Sukhoi Su-34 fighter-bombers completed a flight into the stratosphere at supersonic speeds, the Interfax news agency reported on Friday.

The flight was part of a series of exercises involving aircraft of Russia’s Eastern Military District. The final test flight was a tactical exercise practicing bombing runs in pairs.

“The pilots completed exercises in air navigation, takeoff and landing at airfields in night conditions, and flying a given route to a specific area. During the test flights, the pilots in the new Su-34 bomber flew into the stratosphere at supersonic speed,” said Alexander Gordeyev, a spokesperson for the Eastern Military District.
