Moscow's 'White Rabbit' Makes World's Top 20 Restaurants

Moscow's White Rabbit restaurant has been ranked 18th in an annual list of the world's top eateries by the World's Best Restaurants publication.

The White Rabbit moved up five steps from the 23rd spot it received in the last year's listings, to become the only Russian restaurant in the top 20.

Two more Russian eateries joined the White Rabbit in top 100: restaurants Twins and Chestnaya Kukhnya, both based in Moscow, were ranked in 75th and 100th place respectively.

Located on the 16th floor of the Smolensky Passazh building in central Moscow, the White Rabbit is led by chef Vladimir Mukhin. Mukhin takes an unconventional approach to traditional Russian food by adding contemporary vibe to primordially Russian recipes, The World's Best Restaurants commented.

Italy's Osteria Francescana topped this year's list, followed by Spanish El Celler de Can Roca, last year's winner. New York's Eleven Madison Park rounded off the top three.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
