On Thursday: Catch Naadia

Naadia performing at 16 Tons in January.

If you are into indie pop music — or even if you aren't — don't miss Naadia's concert at 16 Tons on Thursday. It will be the group's only summer concert in Moscow. Right afterwards they are heading off to Budapest, to perform at Sziget, one of Europe's major festivals.

Naadia has only been around for a little more than two years — the band's first performance was at the Afisha Picnic music festival in 2013 — but it's already considered to be one of the best indie pop bands in Russia.

Naadia was founded by Nadya Gritskevich, leader of the electro and trip-hop band Moremoney. After the success of Naadia's first EP in 2013, the band released its extremely successful full-length album in the fall of 2014 and toured around Russia extensively. At the concert there will be a limited number of the vinyl edition of Naadia's debut album on sale.

Naadia is currently recording new material that will be debuted later this year.

16 Tons. 6 Presnensky Val, Bldg. 1. Metro Ulitsa 1905 Goda. 499-253-5300. At 9 p.m. Tickets from 600 rubles.

A Message from The Moscow Times:

Dear readers,

We are facing unprecedented challenges. Russia's Prosecutor General's Office has designated The Moscow Times as an "undesirable" organization, criminalizing our work and putting our staff at risk of prosecution. This follows our earlier unjust labeling as a "foreign agent."

These actions are direct attempts to silence independent journalism in Russia. The authorities claim our work "discredits the decisions of the Russian leadership." We see things differently: we strive to provide accurate, unbiased reporting on Russia.

We, the journalists of The Moscow Times, refuse to be silenced. But to continue our work, we need your help.

Your support, no matter how small, makes a world of difference. If you can, please support us monthly starting from just $2. It's quick to set up, and every contribution makes a significant impact.

By supporting The Moscow Times, you're defending open, independent journalism in the face of repression. Thank you for standing with us.
