Woman Bites Cop and Dies

A 39-year-old woman in the northwestern city of Petrozavodsk has reportedly died after drunkenly biting a police officer.

"A man and a woman were walking around Petrozavodsk in a state of intoxication. Policemen approached them. While police were sorting things out with them, the woman bit one of the officers and then died on the spot," Investigative Committee spokeswoman Olga Golubenko said in comments carried by ITAR-Tass Thursday.

The incident occurred on the evening of Aug. 10, she said, and investigators are still working to determine the cause of death.

Preliminary information suggests the woman suffered a heart attack, according to the report.
