Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov said that Ibragim Todashev, the Chechen who was shot after allegedly charging at FBI agents with a knife last week, was a "good guy" and was killed for no reason, Interfax reported.
Todashev, 27, was being questioned as part of a wider investigation into the Boston Marathon bombings when the incident took place, forcing agents to open fire.
"Just like that, they killed the guy. We know his father, he works in the Grozny administration. He said his son had phoned him and wanted to come home. But they killed him," Kadyrov said.
Kadyrov also dismissed the links between the Tsarnaev brothers, who are believed to have orchestrated last month's terrorist attack in Boston, and the Republic of Chechnya, noting that the brothers were in fact American citizens.
"I have studied them, have found people who knew them and who said that they were capable of it. But they could have been arrested and put on trial," he added.
