Police say a bus crash in the Vologda region in the country's northwest has killed six people and injured at least 18 others, including orphans returning from a field trip.
Vologda region police said Thursday that the crash occurred after a truck veered into the oncoming lane, hitting a bus that was carrying 31 people, including 25 children returning to St. Petersburg from a field trip. Among the six killed were the drivers of the van and the bus. Fourteen of the injured were children.
Police were still investigating the cause of the collision.
Deadly traffic accidents are widespread in Russia due to reckless driving and poor-quality roads.
