Russia criticized North Korea on Friday for its failed rocket test, saying the action went against a United Nations Security Council resolution, Reuters reported. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Russia, China, the United States, South Korea and Japan were "united" in their position against such launches, since they interfere with efforts to restart talks over North Korea's nuclear program. Pyongyang admitted Friday that a long-range rocket had failed to put a satellite into orbit, and South Korea said it fell into the sea minutes after launching.
