"The aircraft carriers 'Minsk' and 'Novorossiisk' are being sold for scrap to South Korea," the spokesman said. He said the 15-year-old warships, designed for warfare against submarines and for vertical take-off war planes, had not carried nuclear weapons and could no longer be used for military purposes.
He declined to say how much South Korea had agreed to pay for the vessel.
