Tajik Journalist Killed

ALMATY () -- A newspaper editor was shot and later died at a hospital in Tajikistan, the latest in a string of killings of journalists in the Central Asian country, the Tajik Foreign Ministry said Friday.


Khamidjon Khakimov, 30, who was editor of the Uzbek-language newspaper Khaksuz, or Word of Truth, was shot in the head Thursday night and died overnight, the ministry's chief spokesman, Zafar Sayidov, said.
