Storms Hit Far East

MOSCOW () -- Torrential rains and strong winds have damaged hundreds of homes and public buildings in Russia's Far East, news reports said Wednesday, but there were no reports of injuries.


Some 200 houses and a gas station were flooded in the city of Blagoveshchensk in the Amur region, a spokesman for the Emergency Situations Ministry told Itar-Tass.


Another 75 buildings in outlying areas were damaged, it said.
