Russian Wins Saber

THE HAGUE, Netherlands () -- Grigory Kirienko of Russia defeated the reigning champion, Germany's Felix Becker, to take the men's Saber title at the World Fencing Championships.


In the last of the championships' individual finals Friday, Kirienko proved too strong for Becker, winning the bout 15-9.


The Italians Tohni Terenzi and Luigi Tarantino, the two losing semifinalists, took bronze medals.
