Yekimov recorded an overall time of 24 hours, 34 minutes and six seconds, with Indurain 10 seconds back in second place and Switzerland's Tony Rominger third.
Indurain showed his strength with a win in Sunday's time-trial, his first stage success of the season, one second ahead of both Rominger and Yekimov who finished second and third respectively.
