KIEV () -- Ukrainian Defense Minister Valery Shmarov said he had formally asked parliament to approve a 50 percent increase in the number of the country's peacekeepers in former Yugoslavia.
"Yugoslavia has caused more problems than dividends for Ukraine but we are not raising the question of withdrawing our forces," Shmarov told a news conference Tuesday. "We need to control the situation. After all, two world wars started in the Balkans."
