Militants Get Death

AMMAN () -- Jordan's state security court Wednesday sentenced to death 11 Moslem militants accused of a plot to destabilize the kingdom, including a series of bombings and plans to assassinate leading officials.

The state accused the men of bombing two cinemas showing soft-porn movies and of foiled attempts to bomb a cinema and a supermarket selling alcohol -- all symbols of Western values they oppose. Nine were injured in the bombings. It said they planned to assassinate leading Jordanians, including Abdul-Salam al-Majali, Jordan's prime minister and attack state institutions, night clubs and video rental shops.
