CANBERRA ( -- New Zealand and Australia said Monday they were disappointed at British Prime Minister John Major's show of support for France's nuclear tests, which came in the wake of Friday's third explosion in the South Pacific.
Major told Le Monde in an interview published Saturday that France appeared to have little alternative but to continue nuclear testing.
"When you have the responsibilities of a nuclear power and when your best scientific advisors tell you that more tests are needed, I am not sure that you have much choice," Major was quoted as saying.
