Lithuania Phone Loan

MOSCOW () -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has signed a $25 million loan to help Lithuania modernize its telecommunications system, Interfax reported Wednesday.


Lietuvos Telekomas, Lithuania's state phone company, plans to provide 14,000 new direct lines and improve networks in Vilnius, Kaunas and Klaipeda, Interfax said.


Lithuania plans to almost double its number of phone lines by the year 2005, Interfax said
