Kohl's Renewal Plan

BONN () -- Chancellor Helmut Kohl's center-right coalition presented a new policy document Monday in which it pledged to push for political and economic renewal during its new four-year term of office.

In a coalition agreement entitled "Making united Germany fit for the future," the three parties said they would pursue the goal of full employment, push for a slimmer, less bureaucratic state and maintain sound government finances.

"We want to use the opportunity, the varied and deep-rooted changes of recent times affecting the whole of Germany, for a thorough renewal," they said in a 49-page document that will form the basis of policy for the next four years.
