Gunman Kills 4 in U.S.

SPOKANE, Washington -- A man who was discharged from the U.S. Air Force for psychiatric problems stormed onto his former base and sprayed a hospital and parking lot with gunfire. Four people were killed and 19 wounded before a policeman shot the gunman dead. One of the first to be killed Monday at Fairchild Air Force Base was the psychiatrist who recommended the gunman's discharge, police said. The gunman was stationed at Fairchild as recently as February and was discharged in May, Spokane County Undersheriff John Goldman said.
