Foreign Investment Dip

MOSCOW () -- Foreign portfolio investments in Russia in 1994 peaked at $230 million a month in September but fell steadily to $150 million in October, $90 million in November and $50 million in December, a market official said.

Dmitry Vasilyev, deputy chairman of the government Securities and Exchange Commission, told a news conference Wednesday that high-risk hedge funds had already bought plenty of Russian shares and it was time to lure more conservative institutional investors such as big banks and pension funds.
