Britons Find Explosives

LONDON -- British police have found more than two tons of explosives hidden on a lorry which arrived at a northern English port from Northern Ireland.

Police, who said the explosives were believed to have been destined for a mainland bombing campaign, discovered them in secret compartments in a lorry which arrived at the port of Heysham on Tuesday.

The Irish Republican Army, which has waged a 25-year guerrilla war to drive Britain from Northern Ireland, did not immediately claim responsibility for the truck bomb.
