Briton Back on Bike

PARIS () -- Olympic cycling champion Chris Boardman won the battle of the Britons when he beat world champion Graeme Obree in a four-kilometer individual pursuit in his first major race since breaking his ankle and wrist in the Tour de France.

But Obree, who last month won the world pursuit title from an absent Boardman in Colombia, had bad luck on Monday when one of the pedals on his self-built bike fell off at the start.

The Scot later returned with a borrowed bike but finished 1,7 seconds behind Boardman's time of four minutes 39.821 seconds.
