MOSCOW () -- A deal could be reached shortly on a multibillion-dollar project between Russia and a Western consortium to develop big oilfields in the far north Timan-Pechora region, said the U.S. oil firm Amoco Corp
Amoco president T. Don Stacy said Friday intensive negotiations were taking place in Moscow and he hoped an agreement could be signed next week.
The production-sharing deal, involving possible investment of more than $100 billion, would be the biggest single foreign investment project in the former Soviet Union.
