Algeria Journalist Slain

PARIS () -- A woman journalist was shot dead Tuesday at her home near Algiers, Algerian security services said in a statement carried by the official APS news agency.

Khadidja Dahmani, 28, who worked for the mass circulation Arab-language weekly Echourouk, was the second journalist killed in Algiers in the past four days, the agency said.

Previous attacks have been blamed on Moslem militants intent on overthrowing the government and establishing a purist Islamic state.
