Police to Reduce Raids

Police may conduct fewer raids and checks on businesses in the final two weeks before the Dec. 4 parliamentary elections, RBC Daily reported, citing unidentified law enforcement sources.

The main police directorate for economic crimes ordered all units to scale back activity and undertake raids of company offices only in "extreme cases," the newspaper said.

No such written or oral order has been issued, Andrei Pilipchuk, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry's economic crimes unit, said by phone.
