Historical Museum

The Historical Museum is now displaying a jardiniere that belonged to the Yusupov family in the early 19th century. It is topped with an aquarium, while below there is a small bird cage and an ornamental stand for flowers. Based on a French original, the jardiniere was made in the 1820s by serf craftsmen for the aristocratic family. The Yusupovs' summer residence was the Arkhangelskoye Estate outside Moscow, whose palace has now been closed for restoration for many years. The family's best-known representative is Prince Felix Yusopov, who headed the conspiracy to kill Grigory Rasputin in 1916.
