The volatile French striker was expelled at Crystal Palace on Wednesday and, on his way off the field, jumped into the crowd and launched a violent attack on a fan.
Critics have called for the Frenchman to be booted out of the game over his latest blow-up. At a time when Manchester United is in the headlines for the wrong reasons, Wrexham could take advantage of the distractions caused by the controversy.
Wrexham also has a history of cup upsets. Three years ago it knocked Arsenal out in the third round at home, but this time it has to play before a likely sellout crowd at Old Trafford.
Gary Bennett, who scored Wrexham's winner against Ipswich, is realistic about the team's chances but is convinced Wrexham will get a goal at Old Trafford.
"All our players genuinely believe that," Bennett said. "The only snag might be how many United get."
With Andy Cole unavailable because he played for Newcastle in the previous round and Mark Hughes sidelined because of injury, United will have a weakened strikeforce against Wrexham and manager Alex Ferguson may be forced to recall youngsters Nicky Butt and Paul Scholes.
United's 1-1 tie with Palace meant that Ferguson's team failed to replace Blackburn atop the Premier League standings. Blackburn, eliminated from the cup by Newcastle, can extend its lead by winning one of its catch-up games Saturday.
Rovers, who will still have a one-game advantage over United, hosts next-to-last Ipswich and will be confident of gaining three points. Newcastle's reward for beating Blackburn is a home game against Division 2 Swansea, which upset Division 1 leader Middlesbrough in Round 3.
Another intriguing cup game involves Millwall, Division 1 conqueror of Arsenal, hosting Chelsea.
The Lions gained a 2-0 upset win at Arsenal in a third-round replay and, with their noisy fans roaring them on at the New Den, will fancy their chances against an erratic Chelsea team that rarely puts two good performances together.
Two more struggling London clubs, Queens Park Rangers and West Ham, meet at Loftus Road with Rangers the slight favorite over the Hammers. West Ham have slipped to second from last in the Premier League standings but Rangers are only two places higher.
Improving Aston Villa goes to Manchester City, only two places lower in the standings, Nottingham Forest hosts Crystal Palace and, in another all-Premier League confrontation, Norwich goes to Coventry.
